The Spirit of North Weald Gate 
Guardian   Replica of the Hurricane flown by Tom Neil DFC 
	who flew the original aircraft from North Weald Airfield during the Battle 
	of Britain - 1940. This gate guardian was dedicated to the local 
community and all those who served at RAF North Weald on Sunday 19th April 2009 
by Rev Rayner Harries MBE, Assistant Chaplin in Chief RAF (ret) and Cllr John 
Knapman, Chairman of Epping Forest District Council.   The flags representing the seven nations who 
	served at North Weald can be seen behind the Spirit of North Weald, 
	along with North Weald's famous Poplar trees on the left of the horizon.   Postcards and gifts featuring this image
