Vampire Cockpit

The Vampire was an early jet aircraft which had its maiden flight in 1943 piloted by Geoffrey de Havilland’s son.  Powered by the de Havilland Goblin engine, it was the first RAF aircraft to exceed 500mph.  It remained in service until 1966 and served with many air forces around the world.  This example is a Swiss Air Force FB6 and is on display at the de Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre.
